These types of glasses are glasses that magnify small print. They have the same prescription in both lenses and do not have prescription to correct astigmatism. 

Why prescription glasses are better than over the counter readers!

• The power in over the counter readers are the same in each lens and you may need a different power for each eye. This will cause eye strain and headaches because one eye will be working much harder than the other.
• Many people have astigmatism and when not corrected, it causes headaches, fatigue, and blurred vision. Prescription glasses correct astigmatism while over the counter readers do not. 
• Readers are "one size fits all." Prescription glasses are custom to your eyes. The prescription is your specific prescription, OC height and PD are taken to make sure the prescription is lined up with the center of your pupils to give you the best and clearest vision possible. 
• Over the counter readers only come in a positive power so they do not work if you are nearsighted.
